The news report at the above link, among other things say that "The Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP) supremo came under sharp attack inside and outside Parliament after the "multi crore" currency garland triggered an outrage fuelling demands by Opposition for a central probe into the source of money."
Are we not getting a bit hypocritical because it is Mayawati? Is it not a subconscious effect of the patriarchy or caste system, which cannot accept a dalit women wielding so much of power. All the political parties are upto these tricks- only difference is that Mayawati is openly doing it.
Mayawati is a welcome change, in India where most of the roads, buildings, benefit, schemes, parks are named after the members of one family, which has manipulated the nation in taking unfair advantage for propagating its dynasty by controlling the media and other supposedly independent establishments . Who can forget the ‘committed judiciary theory’ propounded by one of them and rumoured to be prevalent even today. On the other extreme we find religious groups running political parties with extreme right wing views.
For politicians, the words "Dalits" and "Minorities" have only one meaning - VOTES.
Whether the Dalits are actually empowered or not - at least one of them is truly empowered and BOLD ENOUGH TO DECLARE SO !!!!
